The East Safawi region, with an area of 9643 square kilometers, is located in the northeast of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and is bordered on the east by the Risha gas field. Two-dimensional seismic surveys are available on the region.
The National Petroleum Company operates in this region according to the law of the production sharing agreement for oil and gas exploration between the Ministry of Energy (formerly the Natural Resources Authority) and the National Petroleum Company, and the Royal Decree was issued in approval of Special Law No. 14 of 2014 published in the Official Gazette No. 5278 on 1/4/2014.
